Girlsinagricultureaustralia: Our Story

My name is Silvana Humphries, the founder of Girls in Agriculture Australia.  I started girls in ag from my personal experience facing challenges and the uncertainties of starting an agricultural journey.  I didn't know where to start in this industry in till my agriculture teacher provided essential support, guiding me through the challenges. Despite not being raised on a farm,  I have always been around agriculture, thanks to both sets of grandparents having a job within the agriculture industry. It wasn't until the age of 16, when my father embraced farm life, that I experienced it firsthand.

Girls in Agriculture Australia is more than just a project; it's a dedicated effort to establish a nurturing community inspired by my own story. The goal is to provide a supportive space where girls can navigate the agricultural landscape without the burden of self-doubt. I firmly believe in the power of each girl's unique narrative, and Girls in Agriculture Australia seeks to be the platform for their stories.

As we embark on this collective journey, I have big plans for Girls in Agriculture Australia, that I am going to make a reality to help support more girls within the agriculture industry.
